Art and Feedback, a thread! I will preface this by saying it has never happened to me, but I see it happen on Facebook and thought I'd give my perspective.
Please don't workshop your board game art on Facebook. If you ask people for feedback, they will find something they dislike to give feedback on. That's the nice thing to do, since you asked!
The issue is that not a lot of those people are art directors, graphic designers, or illustrators, so their advice may not be the most helpful, although it will be well-meaning.
If you think your game art needs improvement, I suggest:
Assembling a team of folks whose opinions you trust and who have the required expertise, and float it by them. You can return the favor for their projects!
Hire an art director! I know budgets can be very tight with board games, but if you can, please consider it.
And finally, figure out what you think needs work, and talk directly to the illustrator about it.
Too many opinions can result in art that gets... kind of averaged down. The average of a lot of opinions is seldom something really unique or special.
To really let your illustrator shine, they probably need to take some risks that won't be to everyone's tastes.
And just to reiterate, I've been really fortunate in not having had this happen, and I really appreciate the folks I've worked with for this and many other reasons!
(also there are exceptions, like groups specifically for art and illustration workshopping)
