The Show of Showing

basic advice for magnificent writing

// The Thread //
Writing is a highly sensory experience.

Your readers should be able to perceive everything you wrote.

A sales pitch, a novel, a tweet. Everything counts if you want to stand out.
If your reader doesn't understand what you wrote

It's completely your fault.

Learn how to be the greatest showman in writing with these simple steps.
1. Write to build, not to impress

Writing is building a bridge, not decorating a wall.

Your writing is a road that connects your brain to your readers brain through words.

The smoother the road, the easier your idea flows.
2. Imagery over explanation

Don't tell us the sun is shining. Tell us how it's beams of light warm our skin and fill our hearts.

Don't need to tell (show) you which developed a clearer image in your mind.
3. Wording

Again, imagery over explanation.

Your words are what makes up the bridge between your brain and your readers'.

There's a big difference in how you "made $10K dollars on Twitter" and how you "built a $10K using an online platform".
4. Rambling

We have something in common. We like to believe we are smart. Reading something that makes us feel the opposite, it's just tedious writing for us.

Be concise and remember that you have smarter and dumber readers than you.
You don't need to specify the size of an apple tree or the stock market.

A reader that doesn't know about it will research and a reader that does will continue reading.

Don't make readers lose focus by rambling about stuff.
These were basic writing advice that any reader can relate too.

Start applying them.
