Thread: The Hindutva government under Modi/Amit Shah is not only facilitating the take over of farming in India by the big capitalists, but making sure that they also control basic health care in rural villages, all under the auspices of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
This project was started under the PPP model more than 5 years ago. Land would be provided by local bodies in rural villages, and the construction would be done by a public sector enterprise.

But who would control its functioning and take credit? None other than Vedanta.
Now Vedanta is an infamous metals and mining MNC primarily owned by Anil Agarwal, who made his money by taking over government-owned enterprises.

Infamous for violating environmental regulations and human rights. In Odhisa, Chattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Zambia..
Most recently, Vedanta subsidiary Sterlite Copper was in the news when protests against its expansion in Thoothukudi after repeated violations of environmental regulations were met by state repression: 13 protesters were killed.

Mass protests resulted in closure of the plant.
Sulphur-oxide levels in the air and ambient air quality improved dramatically after the closure of the plant.

Earlier this year, Madras High Court dismissed Vendata's plea to reopen the plant. They are now challenging it in Supreme Court, accusing the high court of favoritism.
Over the last 5 years, Vedanta claims to have inaugurated at least 1700 Nand Ghars across India.

While the promise is that all this will be in addition to existing anganwadi infrastructure, ground reports say otherwise. Underfunding is almost de rigueur.
The New Education Policy will result in closing down of thousands of existing Anganwadi centres.

Meanwhile, as anganwadis all over India were closed down during the lockdown and mid-day meals stopped, their workers were relied upon for frontline health work, without being paid!
Anganwadi workers are not even being paid the honorarium they are due on time and the safety gear they require, let alone the minimum wages and benefits they are demanding.

Coincidentally, malnutrition is increasing; more children are stunted, wasting and underweight.
And all this is during the same period when the government has been providing resources so Vedanta could conduct their 'experiment'.

The overall impact on the health of hundreds of millions of Indians as a result of utter negligence during the lockdown is likely to be much worse
Under the false garb of ending malnutrition then, the same Vedanta which is being resisted by these grama panchayaths will now deliver primary education, health care, nutrition for children AND economic empowerment for women in rural India.

Hand-held by Gates foundation and GoI!
The funny thing is that for all the control these big capitalists and international philanthropic foundations are ceded over the food security and health concerns of third world nations, they don't even have to spend much! https://twitter.com/gatesfoundation/status/1338506534335238148?s=19
(For those who are interested, do read up on the interests of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on things as varied as agribusiness companies like Monsanto, big pharma corporations, infant formula and private prisons, just to name a few)

PS. They also push articles like these:
And what of Vedanta, ask you? Well, a bit under the radar, they've announced they'll be investing $10billion in India.

Except there's a catch, it'll be to take over government-owned public sector enterprises. Things come a full circle.
(And btw Indian Twitter, if you were wondering why you were being inundated with promoted women-empowerment tweets from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation the last one month or so: it was partly because of this)
