the transportation of hazardous materials in general. PHMSA’s mission is to protect people and the environment by advancing the safe transportation of energy and other hazardous materials that are essential to our daily lives. The agency sets and enforces standards, sets
national policy, educates, and conducts research to prevent further incidents. They also prepare first responders to reduce consequences for the public should incidents occur. This is true. We normally don’t hear about pipelines or haz-mat transport unless something has gone
