In the past weeks, we scrubbed precinct election data of numerous counties, dived deep into their demographic data and discovered this trend of right shift in many areas with large Latino and Asian populations across the U.S. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/12/20/us/politics/election-hispanics-asians-voting.html
While the reason behind the shift is hard to discern and most of the places we examined remain deeply Democratic, the red shifts could presage a new electoral calculus for the parties. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/12/20/us/politics/election-hispanics-asians-voting.html
Like any Times enterprise, this is an amazing team effort to be a part of. It’s been inspiring to work with @fordfess and watch how he works through the complex analysis and forms a narrative that is comprehensive and insightful.
Thank you @haeyoun for steering the ship towards the right direction and thank you @aroyalbox @farahymohamed for tireless edits! And huge thank you to @aalicepark for working all the magic scraping the precinct data for the story!
