THREAD:
1) I've been in quarantine for 4 days now, 3 days since I've tested positive for Covid. I've been fairly responsible this year as both of my parents are high risk with underlying health issues. I contracted the virus from someone at work, a place I have no choice to go to
2) In the past few months or so, I've mostly been going to work only. I'd be lying if I said I didn't see a few friends now & then, but I've been as responsible as I could be during those times, & you can bet your ass I never went to any jols.
3) So today is day 4. I'm in isolation in my room, which I can't leave unless I'm going to the bathroom, or collecting food/meds from outside my bedroom door. I don't open my door w/out wearing a mask & sanitized gloves. My parents have both tested negative & that must not change
4) Physically, I have mild flu-like symptoms. A stuffy nose, a little cough, mostly body pain and fatigue. So for the most part I'm okay, I could have it much worse & thankfully I don't for now. Mentally, however, I'm not okay.
5) Having to isolate in your room is different than being stuck in your house like during Lockdown. Bc now it's just me & 4 walls. You start feeling claustrophobic and trapped. I can hear my parents but I can't see them.
6) I can't even hear or see Bruno the bunny but my mum says he just sits quietly & barely hops around. And on Christmas I'll be alone in my room.
But here's why I'm mad - because I've been fairly responsible, especially at work.
7) I social distance as best as I can given the career that I'm in, I only take off my mask when I'm eating & I try not be too close to other people. I sanitize regularly & yet here I am.
Because despite how responsible & careful I was, I still contracted the virus.
8) But some people aren't doing the same. Eg: You're meeting a few friends today & think it's okay.
Bc it's just a few friends. But then didn't you see a different group of people a few days before that? And didn't 1 of your friends see some of their family before they saw you?
9) And aren't you all going to see another group of friends later?
Do you really think it's possible for every single one of you to be negative for the virus, especially after seeing so many people, who in turn have probably seen many others as well?
10) Sharing cigarettes, drinks, food & chilling with dropped masks because you're so sure all of you're friends are safe?
I'm not here to preach and be a hypocrite now that I have the virus and I'm seeing things a little differently.
11) I'm not perfect either, but compared to some of the posts I've seen by some of you, I've been far more responsible. But if I was so responsible & still got the virus, if doctors and nurses in full PPE can still get the virus..
What makes you think you're immune?
