YOUR Results: My first fantasy football tweet in a while (a thread)

If you are reading this, thank you...also, you probably fit into one of these categories:

A: Your team(s) is/are still in it for the ship? Nice work!

B: They aren't

If you fall into either category, read on
A "result" as defined by my Googler is a noun and "a consequence, effect, or outcome of something."

In fantasy football, as in real life, it tends to be more than one "something" that is producing this outcome.

Some of us look at the result to define the success of a process.
But I ask you all, 'ships or nah, to take three deep breaths and ask yourselves the following question:

"Am I allowing the results to cloud my vision of the process?"

We live in a highly reactionary world and play an even more reactionary game, yet we all have a "process."
The process may be sound, but there are MANY factors that play into fantasy success. Luck is one of them (not Andrew tho, you should have dropped him already đź‘€), skill is another, analysis, strategy...the list goes on.

If increased analytics has taught me anything, it's this:
If all of the fancy numbers lean your way, the door is still open to another result...and that result is okay. That result is life--unpredictable.

In life, I can follow all of the "right" information and still get a crappy result.
To steal an example from @AnnieDuke, I can blow through red lights and never get into an accident; or proceed through a green light "safely" and be hit by another vehicle.

The results don't define the quality of my process of driving.
In turn, one play call doesn't necessarily define the coach.

And your fantasy year isn't necessarily defined by your result either.

So, if you answered "B" to the poll, smile! You don't "suck." Don't throw it all in the garbage.

Do me, and yourself a HUGE favor.
Take those deep breaths again and determine what parts of the process worked, and what was out of your control--you'll find that this category is quite large.

There is always next year to tweak your process and try again!

In the meantime, have fun!

Much love,

-Mike
