1. The worst thing about Gonzaloites deriding everything as revisionist is that revisionism, which will always be a danger to communicate is movements, is no longer taken seriously.

2. Another thing is the word revisionist is confusing to many, because now they think that it means to update theory, and hence will say "Lenin was a revisionist because he revised the theory of revolution happening in the advanced capitalist societies." This is wrong, though.

3. Revisionism is called revisionism because the first revisionist, Eduard Bernstein, in the Second International called himself that. He "revised" Marx's theories, and claimed that socialism can be achieved through reform as opposed to revolution.

4. The term stuck, so what revisionism means, then, is essentially right opportunism among communists, and in the context of socialist countries, it means those who seek capitalist restoration.

5. One thing many people don't get is that so-called "Orthodox Marxists" are some of the biggest revisionists out there. This is because they divorce Marx's writings from historical context and analyze things through their flawed understanding of theory.

6. These people are essentially people who memorize passages of Marx, Engels, and whoever else, but fail to grasp dialectical materialism and historical materialism.

7. They'll say dumb shit like "socialist revolution must happen first in advanced capitalist countries. You would know if you read Marx!" What they ignore is the fact that Marx and Engels never lived to see the full development of imperialism,

8. and hence could not have seen how uneven development takes place and why revolution would probably first take place outside of the imperial center.

9. From this we can see that Lenin was not a "revisionist" as some who misunderstand the term may claim, but was faithful in applying materialist dialectics, historical materialism, and a Marxist understanding of the political economy to his analyses.

10. Since Marxism is a guide to action and not a dogma, it makes sense that revolutionary practice that proves correct will result in updated theory. Revisionism, on the other hand, is the removal of revolutionary content from Marxism.
