Did you know that Frampton's use of the talk box was inspired by Dylan, George Harrison & a pedal steel player?
Legendary pedal steel slinger Pete Drake placed an 8" paper-cone speaker-driver and funnel next to his guitar amp and a plastic tube connected to his mouth. He 1st used it on Roger Miller's "Lock, Stock and Teardrops" in 1963.
Drake was Nashville's #1 pedal steel studio ringer for yrs but when Bob Dylan used him on "Lay Lady Lay" he was in demand by rockers too. George Harrison used him on ALL THINGS MUST PASS where Frampton enters the frame.
