Few bits of info on call today on #IranDeal among foreign mins. Reminder it was VTC so probably some concerns that the people officially on call weren't only ones watching. @JZarif was pretty aggressive, talked a lot. Call lasted around 2 hours, he may have talked 40% of time -1-

Basic message on all sides was let's revive #IranDeal without pre-conditions. That's noteworthy in that suggests any ideas of getting #Iran, #US to agree to additional things before reviving accord not favored right now. But no pre-conditions is pretty broad. Can be read in...-2-

various ways. So let's see. I understand @JZarif made no commitment at all not to take any further steps on nuclear file before Jan. 20 and said Iran's govt will need to implement Majlis law. But also no clear threat of any immediate steps. So we'll have to wait and see -3-

Also interesting -- though not surprising -- that as @hrome2 pointed out how the E3 spun the call. Very much focused on any new #Iran nuclear steps undermining diplomatic window to revive accord. Which was only a passing point in official statement. -4-

I understand E3 raised the sunset issue in passing and need for further issues to be addressed down the road. @JZarif came with usual responses. Let's implement JCPOA successfully first then we can see what else we can talk about and on sunsets, look at the #IranDeal preamble -5-
