Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal addressing a press conference today said, "There is a difference between a night curfew and a lockdown. While in lockdown, individuals cannot step out of their homes. In a curfew, more than 5 people cannot assemble outside
during the specified hours. So, offices that functioning overnight or something like dairy transportation can still work operate. Taxis, cars and autorickshaws will run just like before." @shailesh505
"Even on Sunday night, our teams visited some nightclubs and found violations. This is why the decision of night curfew had to be taken. This is not a normal new year which is why we cannot have normal celebrations."
"The curfew is being imposed to ensure that such violations are not repeated. A total of five flights are arriving from the United Kingdom by tomorrow night. Nearly 1000 passenger that arrive from these flights will be quarantined in hotels."
"We have arranged 2000 rooms (1000 rooms in luxury hotels and 1000 rooms in budgeted hotels) in hotels across the city. BEST buses will be used to transport them to the hotels."
"If any of the passengers are found to be symptomatic, they will be directly shifted from the airport to GT hospital where beds have already been reserved."
"After Tuesday night, there are no flights coming in from the UK. Post that, we will focus on the flights arriving from the rest of the European countries and similarly, shift the passengers to institutional quarantines." @shailesh505 @SachinKalbag
"All passengers coming from UK will be compulsorily quarantined. Of the total five flights, Two are arriving tonight, two more will arrive on Tuesday morning and one last flight will arrive on Tuesday night-
-All symptomatic passengers of these flights will be sent to Seven Hills Hospital at Andheri for further investigation and checkup. The rest of the passengers will be sent to institutional quarantine for five to seven days."
"After this, from Wednesday (December 23), flights from other European countries and middle eastern countries will start arriving. All passengers of these flights will be compulsorily sent to institutional quarantine for seven days. -
- If found symptomatic, these passengers will be sent to GT hospital at Fort. BMC will give PPE kits to the airport staff for free starting tonight."
"Protocols for passengers from all other countries like South east Asia or USA will be followed as usual and they wont be sent to institutional quarantine. As of now, they go through RT-PCR tests if they fail to submit a negative report. -
-However, these passengers will now be stamped by the airport authorities for home quarantine. This is because there could be a possibility of one of those passengers having visited UK and later arrived here via some other other country."
