A character who is misunderstood by masses , Raja Man singh of Amer.

Kuar Man singh entered Mughal service at age of 12, he saw combat action at age of 22 when he lead cavalry charge against sons of Sher Khan fauladi who was controlling Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad, surat and pattan fell once which were considered strong hold of afgani mirzas.

Conflict with Maharana of Mewar, when peace negotiations by various Rajas failed, Akbar prepared for a definite showdown with Maharana Pratap. He appointed Raja Man Singh as chief commander of imperial forces which was disliked other muslim nobles.

They didn't trust a hindu commander, Sawanih-i- akbari mentions Raja Man singh was only commander who can infuse courage in mughal troops to face Maharana.

Battle of Haldighati ensued, After initial success of reckless charge by Maharana troops, they started losing battle.

Maharana decided to escape to fight another day as he sustained many battle wounds and his horse chetak was injured.

What Raja Man singh did here was extra ordinary, not only he prevented mughals from pursuing Maharana but also stopped Mughal troops from pillaging Mewar. He was Punished by Akbar for doing so and his Robe of honors were taken back

After this he was sent to Afghanistan to subdue it and avenge death of Raja Todar mal.
He made his way to Afghanistan fighting many tribes in between and captured kabul. He defeated and snatched flags of five prominent tribes of pasthuns. Jaipur flag is based on this event.

Sources collaborate while being governor of Afghanistan. He didn't pay heed to misery of afgans who were harassed by his Rajput troops stationed in Afghanistan.

He returned to mainland, then he spent time being governor of Bihar and Bengal where he repaired many destroyed temples and constructed many new one.

When afgans took control of jagannath puri and destroyed. He came and vanished afgans from orissa and restored it to it's full glory, descendant of his appointed Gajpatis are still custodian of temple. After restoring temple, Gajpati married his daughter to Raja Man singh.

He patronized Tulsidasa(author of Ramcharitamanas) and Meera bai. (notable vaishnav bhakt), He himself was great devotee of Lord krishna.

Another notable incident of his life is when he was leading campaign in bengal. He encountered Raja Lakshmi Naryan of cooch Behar of bengal.

Raja Lakshmi's relationship with Raja Man were very cordial. He married his daughter Barbhavati devi to Raja Man Singh.

It's said she was so fond of Raja that she climbed pyre of Raja and became Sati.
