A few extra thoughts on Bears-Vikings:

1a. In a season that's seen a six-game losing streak, barring an all-time collapse in Jacksonville, the Bears' Week 17 showdown vs. Green Bay at Soldier Field will matter.

That seemed impossible three weeks ago. Credit to Matt Nagy & Co.
1b. In a de facto playoff game, the Bears went into U.S. Bank Stadium and scored on all but two possessions -- one of them an end zone INT after driving 60+ yards.

You could brush off the Texans performance. You can't brush off yesterday's. That was fun.
2. The scheme changes implemented during the bye week have transformed this offense into something... great(?!). They're a true threat to score on every possession right now.

The Vikings, who practice against this scheme every day, had virtually no answers for the Bears.
3a. Mitch Trubisky has been playing much better. He looks comfortable and poised. I'll acknowledge that.

But the calls to extend him are wild to me. He's NOW playing like Kirk Cousins has the last two years. Remember the snark Bears fans dished out for Cousins' contract?
3b. If the calls are only for a cheap, one-year, "prove it" deal, let the season (read: the GB game) play out to ensure this is still real.

But if he continues to play like this, Trubisky might get a better contract elsewhere (which the Bears really shouldn't compete with).
4. David Montgomery is a star. The scheme changes, coupled with the resurgence of the OL, are bringing his skill set out in ways we didn't think were possible this season. He glides all over the field, and then explodes on defenders trying to tackle him. He is a joy to watch.
5. Having to game plan for Justin Jefferson twice a year for the next decade is going to be a PROBLEM. He is just outstanding. The Bears had no answers for him in 2020 -- no one did, really. Minnesota got a good one.
6. I have a lot of questions for Chuck Pagano. None of them are easy ones. He continues to fail at getting the most out of the talent on this defense -- one of the most talented in the NFL. If Matt Nagy returns, he should consider changes to that DC role.
7. Extend Cairo Santos. Now.

(And all the best, Eddy.)
8. Crucial contributions from yesterday:

Bilal Nichols
Brent Urban
Sam Mustipher
Kindle Vildor

What do all these guys have in common?

"Where did they come from?!"
9. Did I mention David Montgomery is a star?
