When the pandemic first erupted, my mother began receiving text messages alleging Pakistani doctors were killing their patients. Now bear in mind my mother is not Pakistani and in fact, lives in Australia.

We had a long chat about fake news and people's terrible intentions
Now she's already received her first message casting doubt on the safety on the vaccine. It's quite sly and seems targeted to not-very-literate boomers: it shows a government official (somewhere) pretending to inject a woman with vaccine. That's it.
It was enough for my mother to announce that vaccine companies are in it for the money (well, yes) and that she was mistaken to vaccinate us as children.
So, how again is WhatsApp dealing with the spread of fake news on its messaging up, and how much responsibility does its owner, @Facebook share for this?
