2. We nearly lost three Ospreys and 24 operators if not for the skill and bravery of their crews. A SEAL lost his leg.
3. All of this could have been prevented if military leaders acted prudently rather than trying to appease diplomats.
4. Risks that were identified and understood were ignored for the sake of expediency. Intel was ignored. Experienced opinions were dismissed.
5. Cumbersome, ad hoc C2 arrangements contributed to the problems. I could go on but will end with this: forceful backup is underrated. If you are the type of military leader who stifles dissent, the chances of a disaster or near miss will happen on your watch are high.
