I don't understand. $ 600 is it?? In New Zealand we got $600 every week for months until we were all back at work. Our little country can do it and the wealthiest country in the world can't?? WTAF
Let me clear this up..ours was NOT unemployment insurance. It was a wage subsidy paid by our government to PREVENT unemployment. Our government paid us $875 a week instead of our companies having to pay us. We then returned to our same jobs.
And let me add....my family are Americans living in the US so no, I'm not taking delight in this. I'm worried as hell that my grandson and family have food to eat and a roof over their heads especially now that they are 3 feet under snow! Non stop worry!
Correction $585 a week...sorry no edit button!
So apparently I'm wrong. According to @chulk90 the USA worker has been paid 100% of their wages by PPP since March and the average American is now WEALTHIER than before Covid. 🙄 Someone clearly forgot to pay my family then.
Here is a comparison of countries budgets
It would cost 750 billion dollars to pay the 155 million workers in the USA $600 a week for 2 months in a similar wage subsidy scheme. The USA can afford that.
