How to assess product market fit, while generating traction without spending money. A thread based on my experiences on scrappy startup go-to-market strategy. #nocode #buildinpublic
Tip 1 - Product Market Fit : Select who you want to serve first. Try and make your test audience as narrow as you can to start with. Remember, this can change as your product develops.
Tip 2. Product Market Fit:
Listen to five times as many people as you think you should from your selected audience. Don't mention your idea just yet. Ask them if they see any opportunities for development in their industry.
Tip 3 - Product Market Fit.
After listening ask yourself,
What do THEY want?
What do THEY think they need?
Why do THEY think they need it?
What do THEY spend money on?

Make a note of these, as they will be valuable down the line.
Remember, people spend money on the things THEY think they need, not what you think they need.

.....People will spend money on the things you think they need, but it will require behaviour change focused marketing, sales and, advertising. These require bug budgets.
Tip 4 Product Market Fit - Collate all your audience listening data and formulate a product idea to test in your market based.
Tip 5 Product Market Fit: Create a story narrative for your product, based on it's value to the people that you listened to.

Try not to add your own perspective, unless you are your target market...... This is very hard to do.
Tip 6 Product-Market Fit. - Put your product narrative on a landing page. I recommend @carrd or @gumroad. And add a pre-order / call to action that when complete qualifies your idea. If they do not react well take feedback and reiterate, before moving on.
Tip 7 Product-Market Fit. After testing the landing page on people who you have relationships with, now it's time for strangers. Don't change audiences, find people who have similar traits to those who have already completed your call to action.
Tip 8 Product-Market Fit : First, hunt for the channels that your audience lives on naturally. Observe them in their own habitat. Think, how can I integrate into this tribe?
Tip 9 Product-Market Fit: Give value to the group that you exist in, bases on what they want. Not what you think that they should appreciate.
Tip 10. Product- Market Fit: Share your landing page as often as possible, when people discuss a problem that your solution solves.
Once you notice that YOU are sharing your page less, but are continuing to receiving organic conversions on your call to.
action, you have some traction and can now build out the product based on the feedback from the target audience you now have a good relationship with.
