India's dipping Public Expenditure in the midst of a global pandemic: A Thread:-
1. Out of the promised package of Rs. 20 lakh crores, expenditure increased by only 6500 crores
2. Actual Government expenditure is down by 5% as a proportion of its Budget Estimate, than last year.
3. Out of a total of 55 ministries, 41 ministries spent less during the pandemic than last year.
4. The department of consumer affairs and public distribution responsible for subsidising foodgrains which had a crucial role to playduring the panedmic spent 9% less than last year.
5. Only 48% of the target budget has been spent by October compared to 60% in October last year.
6. Ministry of jal shakti and housing and urban affairs- important for multiplier effects of infrastructural/capital investment have spent 20% less than last year.
7. Till October, states had received 20% less funds than they did last year.
