Can we stop the conventional wisdom that liberal vs. conservative policies are some sort of tradeoff between compassion vs. “the economy”? Conservatives suck at the economy. Their policies serve to keep the 1% rich, that’s it.
Glad we have a Federal govt that chose to go into debt to keep Canada afloat, rather than forcing households to go into debt at much higher interests rates. Not only the compassionate thing to do, but also responsible. Households crippled by debt aren’t spending in the economy.
We’ve seen better economic performance in countries which adopted stricter lockdown measures to bring #COVID19 close to zero. Yet conservative politicians gaslight us with this false need to “balance” the economy with public health —as if the economy didn’t depend on our health.
When it comes to tackling the #ClimateCrisis, conservatives delay action in the name of “balance” with the economy. This is despite the fact that delayed action will ultimately come at a greater economic cost.
