Watched Terminator: Dark Fate the other day annnnd...I actually kind of liked it. Had a really solid emotional core and I loved the cast. The two weakest parts, for me, were the inclusion of Arnold, and the ever increasing, over the topness of each fight scene.
Arnold's presence almost felt intrusive and some of the moments they gave to were a little traditionally action hero-y for me, and thought it clashed with the tone.
The action scenes were ok at first, but by the time they got the plane sequence they lost me. The ridiculous levels of escalation are something that plagues a lot of big budget action films and tends to lose me, but ah well.
Also, really wish they had explored the idea that the present is under constant attack from the future a bit more. Seemed like a really interesting thread they tossed out there and then moved on from really quickly. Also, also... loved, loved, loved the new terminator concept.
Just wish they had done a bit more with it. Felt like there was a lot of potential for misdirections and subterfuge that never really manifested.
Overall, it was fine. Loved the leads, really liked everyone's chemistry, some definite fun moments, and I wouldn't mind a sequel.
