*ALMOST* three consecutive 40min efforts from the Buffs, but Jabari Walker, Nique Clifford and Luke O’Brien started playing real lazy at the end. That can’t happen. Bad freshmen mistakes. Gotta be better.
Buffs dominated this game against a horrible, horrible Washington team. Mike Hopkins should be on the hot seat with the lack of talent in program and the disappointment of last season.
Tonight this group played like a bunch of vets. Outstanding communication yet again. That’s their identity. One game at a time, bringing their own energy, feeding off each other is the recipe for success for this group.
Dallas Walton was fantastic offensively. Just gotta let the big fella eat. He’s gotta work harder defensively, but if I’ve told you once I’ve told you 1000x...
LET THE BIG FELLA EAT
LET THE BIG FELLA EAT
Horne and Battey were great leaders tonight. Parquet was excellent, needs to continue being more aggressive. Have to credit Maddox Daniels, making a lot of plays on both ends this season he wouldn’t have made last year. Jabari brought great energy just played undisciplined.
D’Shawn is ready to go. His offensive effort has been good, his defense and rebounding need to pick back up.
I told you about that Hi-Lo ability with this group. It was phenomenal tonight and I truly hope they continue to integrate that. Too valuable and too hard to defend not to. Even still, thought ball needed to touch high post more than it did. Never a bad call.
If Hi-Lo isn’t there, kick to the wing. It forces the defense to rotate. You just need to move the ball a little better and will get any open shot you want.
Defensively, they’re playing at a high level. However, against better teams like the one they will face Tuesday night, they have to tighten things up. Sorn has great size clearly, but some bad rotations from the weak side led to easy buckets.
If you’re competing for championships, you HAVE to dial in every detail. I really like their approach thus far, but tons to prove yet. Like I said the other night, prepare, focus, and dial it up the same way every night and build championship habits. 1 thru 12.
Not much else left to say about Kin. I’m just real proud of him. He’s always been old school. However, this year, it’s a different level of maturity he’s brought. His leadership and coaching both on and off the floor are invaluable. Tons left to prove for him. Has to keep pushing
Overall, excellent performance. They carried what they built on at home last week to Vegas. However if you want to win this league, you cannot be satisfied whatsoever in blasting a really, really, really god awful team.
One game season, prepare the same way every single game, bring that energy at tip every single night. Keep working. They should be inspired by last season, each and every time they take the floor. Champions never settle, they never let up. Colorado has the ingredients.
Keep working, keep building, keep pushing. Eyes on GCU now and they have nearly 48hrs to reset focus, watch tons of film and get better. The Buffs have to outwork a ghost this year. They can, but it’s a one day at a time thing. Stay in the moment and compete your tail off.
Got a lot of teams in this league that are comparable. This league will come down to who wants it more this year. Last year, concentration and focus went out the window. That’s on everyone. If that doesn’t drive you, idk what will.
They have a really rare opportunity to do something special. As a CBB player, if you find yourself apart of something like this, it’s time to mature and seize the moment because most guys go their whole career w/o playing on a team with their potential.
Champions aren’t built in one day, in one practice, in one game. You do it day in and day out, by the habits you form, the focus you bring, holding each other accountable, controlling what you can control, playing for each other, staying in the moment and having fun doing it.
