day 11 in managed isolation in nz. couldn't praise this service enough. makes me proud to be a kiwi. hard to know how to express our thanks to all these amazing people who're making it happen for us.
Seriously, NZ managed isolation is the strictest, safest, kindest and most world class operation. The hotel I'm in is filled with compliant and grateful kiwis from all over the world. Something special is going on here.
There is great beauty is meeting one man bringing home two new New Zealanders, his daughters adopted from India. There is also a gold miner from Tanzania, an engineer from super yachts, a truck driver who lost his job, many coming home to say goodbye or bury their loved ones.
Then there's the staff. NZ Army personnel are polite, disciplined, charming and patient. Only the highest standards here. They go out of their way to learn our names. The mind boggles when you find out the guy at the door is a rifleman last deployed in Iraq.
Wholesome meals left at the door 3 x day with a knock. Daily temperature checks. Nurses call regularly to ask about physical & mental health. Kindest hotel staff. Many people are in here with their kids, all so well behaved. All this under strictest and clearest conditions.
You get the sense that it takes a village to make NZ managed isolation work, which includes taxpayers. It would never work without the goodwill of so many people.
Sincerest thanks to you all x
