In the course of looking over the history of highly impactful vaccine rollouts, I came across the late-1890s/early-1900s letters of Dr. Francis T. Bond in The Lancet, which were trying to address smallpox vaccine misinformation and moving goalpoasts. History repeating itself.

As the battle played out in the letters, this remarkable editor's note under one from someone writing in to call vaccines a fraud.
Anyway, back to the present: the narratives are not new (they persist because they are effective in creating distrust and fear). We know what they will be, and how they will spread. So the question is, how can we effectively counter them?
