The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has recommended frontline workers and people over 74 years old should be in the next vaccine priority group. They include correction officers among this group, but have not mentioned prisoners. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/20/health/covid-vaccine-first-elderly-workers.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage
Prisons, like nursing homes, have been hot spots during this pandemic. People who are incarcerated are more likely to be Black and other people of color and have higher rates of underlying medical problems. It makes little sense to only vaccinate correction officers.
It looks like Massachusetts actually has a moral compass. The state is including people who are incarcerated among the first priority group based on the fact they are among the highest risk of being infected. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/18/health/coronavirus-vaccine-prisons-massachusetts.html
It's *very* disappointing that the CDC's Advisory Committee has not directly addressed the vaccine prioritization of people who are incarcerated. Correction officers and people who are incarcerated should receive the vaccine at the same time.
