I’m not going to retweet it (instead reported it) but I see there is another racist tweet about Asian food going around, written by someone who has previously cited animal rights concerns regarding Chinese markets
The vegetarian, vegan and animal rights movements have a huge issue with racism. I say this as a vegetarian. “Animal rights” are commonly a fig leaf people use when making sweeping and spurious statements about meat production in Asia and Africa
Those people rarely have the same vitriol for cruel animal husbandry and meat production practices in Western Europe and North America
I have also seen tweets from disabled people whose vegetarian/vegan neighbors offered to shop for them during the pandemic only to tell them they would only purchase vegan/vegetarian vegetarian goods, when the disabled person needed other food items
This is part of a trend where vegetarians and vegans will claim that disabilities or chronic illnesses can be ameliorated or cured by becoming vegan/vegetarian. They can’t
