I've wanted to make this thread simply because I think many people don't fully grasp Virgo as an archetype beyond the often simplistic & superficial Sun sign traits so I, the Virgo
, have decided to elaborate on where those come from and show how much richer this archetype is.

Also, you can say this about every other sign, really.
Before I start debunking this I'd like to say that this is the description of ***the archetype***.
You are a person, you're much more complex than this and you have an entire chart with different planets and signs that

You are a person, you're much more complex than this and you have an entire chart with different planets and signs that
might contradict what this thread says in some ways. If you have Virgo placements this thread might not resonate entirely because like I said: this is the description of the archetype; it's not in the context of any particular human being & the complexities they embody.
Alright now that that's out of the way, let's get into it.
Oh Virgo the maiden. Sounds so sweet, right? Well, it is, but also, it's not.

Oh Virgo the maiden. Sounds so sweet, right? Well, it is, but also, it's not.
Being the home and exaltation of Mercury this sign's characterized by keen eyes and a sharp mind that doesn't miss details but rather
hyperfocuses on them. The practicality of its Earth element puts this ability to improving efficiency and productivity, fixing those details in order to make whatever it is more useful, hence the perfectionistic stereotype.
Mercury's the planet of communication, information, language, thoughts, facts & opinions and intelligence. With Virgo's mutable ability to move from one task to another, get to the point & arrange useful information in a useful way, it's no wonder why The Messenger loves it here.
These traits have its opposites: the big picture, optimism, joy, beliefs and the concept of truth based on them, all Jupiter's domain, are concepts Virgo typically doesn't like.
Virgo can't look beyond the faults in the details & look at the possibility of the big picture.
Virgo can't look beyond the faults in the details & look at the possibility of the big picture.
Remember, Virgo's an Earth sign, it doesn't do posibilities, it does tangible outcomes.
Virgo's critical mind questions everything. In Virgo, the concept of truth has to have verifiable evidence to back it up. Virgo will dissect whatever belief and idea is being explained

exposing its faults and deeming it as useless and untrue.
Virgo's definition of beliefs is based on logic and the careful processing of factual information. Virgo does not take solace in thinking that everything happens for a reason, Virgo knows that the thought process that

led to the choice-making led them to whatever consequence they have to face now. It's a fact, a truth.
So where Jupiter says that "everything happens for a reason," Virgo says "...okay? So what IS the reason?" Inquisitive, per usual.
So where Jupiter says that "everything happens for a reason," Virgo says "...okay? So what IS the reason?" Inquisitive, per usual.
For Virgo, thinking about a deeper meaning beyond the tangible won't change anything, nor will it help them in the future either. It's pointless. And Virgo doesn't do pointless.
Jupiter is joy and indulgence, and let's be real, in the pursuit of productivity there is little to no joy, especially when you're trying to make it perfect along the way. Indulgence simply isn't in Virgo's vocabulary. Virgo rations to use what it has most efficiently.
Now, what happens if we focus so much on efficiency and we think through everything? We can't enjoy shit, that's what. There's only so much thinking you can do before it sucks the pleasure out of things.
Virgo is the fall of Venus, the planet of pleasure, relationships, harmony, tact, manners, and love.
To experience pleasure entirely and to fully enjoy the finer things in life, you can't think. Virgo thinks and questions so much that it rips the enjoyment out of everything.
To experience pleasure entirely and to fully enjoy the finer things in life, you can't think. Virgo thinks and questions so much that it rips the enjoyment out of everything.
Virgo is used to logically thinking through things, predicting, knowing, controlling... But love is a feeling, one that Virgo can't predict or control.
Venus likes to enjoy things, to immerse herself in pleasures. Virgo doesn't find the point to any of that. It's useless.

With such a critical and detail-oriented mind, Virgo is hardly ever satisfied with anything & their instinct is to put their skills to work to fix it in the most tangible way. In love this isn't always the answer.
Although Virgo can be thoughtful in doing and solving problems for others, showing appreciation through detailed gifts or useful favors, perhaps it's more physical touch that's needed, more physical affection... and that's Venus' forte, not Mercury's.
Virgo probably won't help you through your problems by hugging you and telling you everything will be okay, that's more the Moon's and Venus' style.
Virgo will help you by giving you the tools or telling you the solutions and active steps you can take to solve them.

Sometimes, when you didn't even ask or want it.
Helpful, but tactless. Venus doesn't like that. For Venus, compassion and respect is the pillar of relationships & human connections. Virgo just can't understand why someone wouldn't want to hear a useful solution.

Now, the critical and deeply discerning mind of Virgo approaching things from a perspective of "how can I make this better?" (again, practicality first) makes for this archetype to have a tendency for brutal honesty which can border on rudeness.
Where Venus says: "That was rude. You could've said that in a better way." Virgo responds with: "Well, it's true."
For Virgo, facts and getting their point across clearly will always come first. In their minds, sugarcoating things is a nuisance to effective communication.

And where Venus says: "Be nice and ask them how they are," Virgo says "Can't we just get to the point?"
For Virgo's agenda and their drive for efficiency, pleasantries just get in the way. "Let's just get to the point, I got shit to do." says Virgo.

So clearly, Virgo's Mercurial traits make it too logical for either of the benefics to be comfortable there but once you understand its archetype, you can understand why. It paints a much better picture of the sign and the planets involved.

If you read it all the way down here, thank you.
Also remember that like I said at the start, in the context of a chart & a person, it's much more complicated.
