Why have so many people been so callous when others speak about how they are sad submit lockdown, quarantine, separation from family, special events begging cancelled and Christmas being cancelled? A thread.
Anytime someone hints they are struggling with one of these issues a bunch of people start with "shut up, the war was worse" or "you are being asked to stay home and watch Netflix (and be completely devoid of human contact) quit complaining". Why?
We aren't so cruel about other things. If someone says "I'm sad because my boyfriend and I broke up" people don't jump in with "oh shut up, do you know what people went through during the war" or when someone says "I'm having a hard time with a work colleague...
...it's getting me a little down" no-one says "pull yourself together and shut up, some children in this world are starving and there was a Great Depression 100 years ago!"
Why can we be sad about all stuff and get support unless it's Covid related?
