Under new COVID relief bill, districts are expected to get 4x what they received under CAREAS. So supts, just multiply what you got under CARES by 4 and you will know your new fed allocation. We expect the $ to be available for drawn down in late Jan/early Feb.
To be clear: this deal is months late and around $150b short of what districts needed. But sadly we will take whatever we can get at this point.
Excellent news: CRF funding deadline IS extended. The Dec 31 deadline has been a nightmare for states/districts alike. While we wanted/needed this extension much earlier, it's better late than never.
In a shocking turn of events (thank you Chairman Pai) there will be no dedicated funding to address the homework gap via E-Rate.
Bill also contains a tax credit for employers to provide paid sick leave. Under CARES, districts were ineligible. Will be interesting to see if we are included this time.
