I’m not sure people understand the difficulties that come along with building a startup outside of a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This IMO is 1 reason why the Miami convo is so hot & why the remote work convo is so important

When you’re in a strong ecosystem you have programs around to support you
(If you get accepted) & you have people that you know of who have already traversed the path you want to go down.

Seeing is believing.

There’s mentors within reach that you can reach out to & have coffee with. This allows you to build a relationship with them & they are (hopefully) willing to help you with the many tough decisions you’ll face.

I come from a City that did not have this system in place. The struggles you face make the journey 5x harder, you’re doing it mostly alone.

While others are building careers, you have no one that can emphasize with fight.

An entrepreneurial ecosystem can make ALL the difference, which is why so many moved to SV in the 1st place. Even when they needed to sleep in their car or go without meals to make their dreams come true.

Hopefully we will see this system change with more virtual programs & remote work... but in person interactions will come back.

When that happens, those relationships will still be valued at a premium & having the right people within eyesight does help.
