joking aside, this is a good thread though, and as someone who used to give talks all the time, getting paid is HARD. i've tried to negotiate getting paid (or folks at least covering my travel) in the past, and orgs have decided to drop me rather than pay me đŸ„Ž it's tiring
i used to give a very specific talk on societal implications of ai, stuff that i felt was important for folks to hear. gave the talk at high schools, colleges, even coding bootcamps. but even if folks care about "ethics in AI" they never care enough to pay me for it 😂😭
