An often overlooked and now purposely obfuscated event that largely informed the policy of Japanese internment at the start of WW2 was the Niʻihau incident. It’s not taught in any public curriculum surrounding interment, however it largely informed US brass’ decision.
During the Pearl Harbor attacks, the Japanese recognized there was a high likelihood of aircraft being damaged to the point of being unrecoverable by aircraft carrier. They selected Niʻihau island, believed to be an uninhabited Hawaiian island, as a LZ and recovery point.
One such pilot was forced to land on this island when his fuel tank was punctured by anti aircraft fire. However, upon landing this pilot found the island was in fact inhabited, by both native Hawaiians and a small contingent of American nationals.
Among these American nationals were three of Japanese descent. Who were at first utilized as translators to communicate with this pilot. The other American nationals and even the Hawaiian natives recognized this pilot as an enemy, and stripped him of his sidearm and documents.
The island’s inhabitants then placed this pilot under guard and awaited a supply ship which made a monthly trip to the island, their only contact with the outside. During this time, the pilot began working on the three Japanese American inhabitants of the island.
It took this pilot less than a week to convince all three to swear their loyalty to the emperor over their fellow countrymen, and the four of them staged an armed insurrection. The pilot was the first to fall of this foursome, being bludgeoned after killing a native.
The three Japanese Americans, however, continued this campaign until the other inhabitants of Niʻihau were able to request assistance from the main island. A contingent of marines were dispatched to regain control of the island, which was successful.
Two Hawaiian natives were given civilian decorations for their acts of bravery and service to country, and the surviving Japanese were confined at local military prisons for the remainder of the war.
The US brass rightfully concluded that eastern philosophies and sympathies made the Japanese American population particularly susceptible to being turned. Many acts of espionage and sabotage were tied to Japanese Americans in the following months.
In 2020 we have outed Chinese spies sleeping with members of the house intelligence committee. We have Chinese American nationals buying large swaths of land near military training grounds. Nothing has been done about either. Which can only mean the influence goes much higher
As you see chinamen around you in your daily life, consider what they have access to. In university research centers, in the aerospace industry, in the defense industry, the bedrooms of congressmen. Where do you think their loyalties lie?
If you are in the position to sell land, don’t sell to Chinese. If you are in the position to hire, don’t hire Chinese. If you are in the position to promote, don’t promote Chinese. If you are in the position to advise corporate infosec, hold a close magnifying glass to Chinese.
