#ACIP committee did better by our elders in a plan they just passed: they included people over 75 in a plan which just weeks ago abandoned them. However, the plan still prioritizes a healthy 17-year-old grocery shelf-stocker ahead of a 73-year-old with heart disease and diabetes.
See my previous retweets for concerns raised by public comments about elders living at home (particularly in multigenerational households of color) who are abandoned by this plan. It was disturbingly clear that #ICIP was not prepared to alter the plan in light of public comment.
Indeed, it isn't at all clear to me what the point of the public meeting and deliberation was. One got the sense that the working group's recommendation was going to passed no matter what. Again, it was telling that #ACIP almost forgot to have public comment at all before voting!
