Some people are commenting on McGeady and saying that he's had clashes with managers throughout his career. Perhaps it's a fair comment but it's also worth looking at Parkinson's history when it comes to man management.
On the @UndrTheCosh podcast Arron Wilbraham, who was a good pro and played until he was 40 referred to Parkinson promising him the earth after he scored the goal to keep them in The Championship.
He didn't receive a contract offer after weeks of PP going silent on him and blamed the ownership at the club. Wilbraham was complimentary about every other manager he played under including Paul Ince who dropped him for the JPT Final after scoring twice in his previous game.
John Mcginley, a Bolton legend recalled a time where Parkinson ran him and advised him not to take part in a demonstration over the club's ownership because he would be "viewed as a trouble maker" and insinuated he would lose any relationship with the club.
Simon Ramsden, a Massive Lads Fan who played under Parkinson at Bradford had a similar tale to Wilbraham where Parkinson promised him a new contract, avoided him for weeks and again blamed the board saying, "I don't want to insult you with the offer the board are making."
An ex Sunderland player had a trial at Bolton when Parkinson was in charge and said he was told repeatedly that Parkinson would call him after training to give him a verdict. He eventually text him almost a week later late at night.
It's clear that whatever people's views on McGeady that Parkinson has terrible man management skills and his lack of transparency with the players has given him a poor reputation for this across the game.
