So here I am assisting St. Kitts with the monkeys & spen my weekend doing research on pest control in the tropics... I came across Bahamas & their Task Force that they created against to tackle some toxic toads & it’s still up for debate who is winning that war

Come Come
Cane toad are actually native to the tropics... like only thrive in weather like ours... lots of rain & lots of sun. But they are not only found in Bahamas, they are reports that they are also on the island of Dominica. So vibes
It is reported that the cane toad was first discovered in Lyford Cay in Bahamas in 2013 & they heavily populate New Providence. Now reports have it that they came to islands due to “illegal importation”... but my ancestors spirit told me to dig further...
The cane toad as the name suggest were introduced in tropical areas to control pest. But where in the region cane grow?

Exactly

And who brought cane to the Caribbean?

Exactly...

So who are we blaming for the cane toads?

EXACTLY!!!
Cane toads produce a toxin known as bufotoxin that affects the heart & other internal organs of the body... but is the dogs who love to eat any & every ting & bite whatever who pose the greatest risk cause one bite out of the toad... and bloop them that
So guh suh boom now and the little amphibians a flourish all over the western New Providence until them move from just Lyford Cay to Old Fort Bay & is worries.... bay worries cause pose with the option of peace... and the toads said no...

“Let’s wreck havoc”
So native agriculture & domestic animals as well as humans were at risk & the toads were becoming populous

Cane toads lay eggs in still or slow flowing water & females can produce between 8,000 – 35,000 eggs at a time & usually breed twice a year. Listen... DEM BUSY
So unlike the monkeys of St. Kitts and the snails of Antigua, likkle interaction with the toads & you putting your life at risk as likkle rain start so in 2013, the government of Bahamas launch yes, A TASK FORCE

THE BAHAMAS CANE TOAD TASK FORCE
Now task force out & persons were employed through the Department of Agriculture to deal with the toads & it work. By the end of 2013, there was a drastic fall in the number of sightings of the toads on New Providence so everybody is commending the task force & the government
Fast forward to 2019 & a likkle am a in Grand Bahama a deal wid some work zeen & all of a sudden guess who him buck in one of the bushes
And understand enuh, the toads dem come back bigger & fatter & ready to wreck more havoc... Dem lose di battle, but di war... dem never lose di war
