Honestly, I don’t think #BroncosCountry
really understands what’s happened the past 4 years.
There’s essentially 2 timelines. 2016-2018, and 2019-2020:

There’s essentially 2 timelines. 2016-2018, and 2019-2020:
2016-2018:
Broncos tried to run it back with the SB core. They kept the majority of the team together on D, and kept the skill position players on O while trying different things with the line. Also Lynch didn’t work out.
Even 2018, they tried the average QB and added Chubb.

This didn’t work. The defense mostly got old. VJ was a complete disaster and there was a massive disconnect between the O and the D. Midway through the year they knew it wasn’t working, and began the rebuild by trading away DT.
2019-2020:
They brought in Vic with the understanding that this was going to be a rebuild.
Yes, they traded for Flacco which was a fine trade. If he played well, great, but he had no guaranteed money. He could either be a bridge or a long term guy.

Flacco didn’t work out, and that was okay. They drafted their guy anyway, along with other linchpins on offense.
They also completely revamped their secondary.
2020 was year two of the rebuild, letting pretty much everyone not named Von and Brandon walk from the SB50 team.

They added 3 rookies to the offense, and continued to revamp the defense.
Circumstances such as COVID took away valuable offseason reps that they couldn’t have planned for, and youth and injuries have been a huge problem.
Throughout it, the team has played hard and together.

If you think that the VJ era and the Vic era are the same, you aren’t looking close enough under the covers.
They were 2 different mindsets. Even though the records look similar, the way the rosters were constructed and the expectations were completely different.
