I want to start this thread by pointing out that this earlier year I wrote a piece severely critical of Mr Rahul Gandhi.

With that out of the way, I find myself deeply disturbed after reading Ram Guha’s conversation with Karan Thapar. 1/n
First off, I have never seen Karan Thapar simply egg on his guest and not ask*ONE*counter question. I wonder what changed

2. There isn’t *ONE* mention of electoral bonds -opaque electoral financing which favours the BJPfrom either guha or thapar in the entire conversation 2/n
3. See this from Guha. While Ram Guha attacks the Gandhis for what he calls ideological inconsistency, he grants a clean chit to the ideological convictions of the defectors who have gone to collude with a fascist force.

Those who have gone to join the BJP are victims?
Poor “brilliant” politicians, compelled to join the BJP because of the evil Rahul Gandhi. Really? 4/n
Guha does not enlighten us- why has this unnamed politician who will lead the INC after gandhis leave challenged them? Is this future leader of INC and vanquisher of BJP simply waiting for oh so bad Rahul Gandhi to go? 5/n
JP is mentioned twice. By a historian. Without any reference to his relationship with the RSS? And what he enabled for the RSS? 6/n
What does this paragraph mean? That not only are the Gandhis preventing leaders from INC from rising, they’re stopping leaders from other parties too? And outside of political parties too? At this point I felt seriously concerned for Mr Guha. I really hope he’s ok.
I will now come to Guha’s own ideological convictions. Here is a paragraph written by him.
Some more ideological consistency from Guha: Here is Guha saying Hindus are superior to Muslims.
I seriously hope Mr Guha will pen a piece about who needs to quit for Indians to have historians who are not islamophobic or casteist.
Karan Thapar usually does his research well, something must have kept him this time or I’m sure he would have interrogated his guest about his own bigotry.
More ideological consistency from Guha. Please remember that the SC judgement had already held that triple talaq is null and void. The BJP wanted to criminalise an utterance of abandonment and throw muslim men in prison. https://twitter.com/ram_guha/status/949126889590816768
Guha normalised Colonial rule, racial violence *and* the Apartheid? Full marks for ideological consistency at least.
