So going through a thing I have seen play out time and time again with female employees that I mentor, so I am throwing this out there. My wife is interested in a job but she does not have two of the bullet points... so like 10% of the requirements...
So she isn't wanting to apply for the position because she can't check all of the boxes and I am trying to convince her to apply anyway. She can learn those things and I can absolutely guarantee there will be guys applying for the position that maybe have 50% of them checked.
Like as someone who writes job requirements on the regular... it is a kitchen sink of everything that the position might do. Things are thrown in there often times just on the off chances that you need to have an employee do a thing EVER.
You are almost always going to settle for a candidate that can check 70% of the boxes maybe 80% of the boxes... you are never going to get someone who checks 100% of them. Don't take yourself out of the running before someone has even had a chance to look at the resume.
I've run into this time and time again with female employees that I am mentoring, and it is like pure hell to get someone that I know is absolutely qualified for the position and would do a great job at it... to just go ahead and put themselves out there.
Guys on the other hand tend to have an over abundance of confidence and a drought of skill to back it up. Again however... you can't interview the resumes you don't get, so please please please just apply for the damned job if you think you might want it.
Legitimately... there is one dude that has applied for every fucking job that has ever come open and does a piss poor job of interviewing but keeps putting himself out there thinking eventually he will land one. Channel just like a third of that stupid confidence.
