THIS, but it's also pretty universal IME. When people feel upset and powerless they want to put the blame on someone or something and reach for the easiest most obvious target/symptom instead of digging into the actual cause to find a solution. https://twitter.com/alexschief/status/1340452926242889729
Some folks are going to yell at a new apt bldg that just opened bc developers are bad & I get their feelings (valid) but I've been in the weeds finding the root of the cause so long (systemic racism & classism written into law we need to change) that protesting a bldg feels wrong
I understand the catharsis and how it can be an intro point for the movement.

I just feel like yelling at people for where they live bc it's new and shiny isn't worth spending my limited energy on, esp when I want to work with them all on changing the laws that lead us here.
Growing up, anything or anyone my parents disliked was blamed on the devil trying to lead us astray or God's ways being mysterious even though 99% of the time it was just ~consequences~ for my parents lack of judgment and desire for a quick easy answer that absolved themselves
I learned early on somehow that the correct answer to big problems is never easy, and if someone tells you it is, they're either ignorant or selling something that won't actually solve the problem but will make *you* feel justified in your actions and takes
I get that and I feel like that's the place most people start at.

I personally am much more interested in doing the hard, impossible feeling work of trying to solve the root of the problem instead of the easier symptomatic manifestations.

/soapbox
(while at the same time tying to hold where other people are at in their personal evolution and knowing that everyone starts somewhere and we need a variety of tactics to win so just bc something doesn't set well *with me* doesn't mean it isn't worth doing)
