After yesterday’s Tweets about Leinster changing their scrum set up system, I’ve made these videos to explain & contrast the 2 different systems and why I think they’ve moved to a better one. IMO if everyone made(or @WorldRugby enforced) the change, would = WAY less resets. 1/2
VIDEO CONTINUED 2/2 as it’s more about being stable and balanced engaging as an 8, instead of 8 and second rows leaning all their weight forward and props holding it with their bind and then dropping into it. If you win the hit system works, if you lose it’s a mess.
Second rows on two feet and 8 holding his weight. Means that even if you lose hit, scrum is a lot more connected, especially the “spine” of it with the second rows that you have better stability. Meaning less collapses and potential penalties against. Moving to this
Will improve the game from the grass roots up. Simpler and more effective IMO.
