Y'all Trump has wanted to be a dictator for his entire presidency, and always tries to go there in White House meetings. We know this because Swan and Haberman have made careers out of alleviating the guilt of freaked Trump staffers by leaking. None of this is new.
Meanwhile the far-right keeps building political power and winning more elected offices, municipal to Senate. The GOP keeps getting more brazen with their anti-democracy takeovers at both the state and federal level. And at least 1/3 of Americans no longer acknowledge reality.
I just wish we'd stop fixating on Trump's behavior, which has not changed. He's leaving office on January 20, whether he likes it or not. But we're going to be dealing with what he built for years or decades.
Please stop worrying about Trump attempting a coup. He was always going to do this and told us so. It won't work. But we're going to be dealing with the machine he built for a long time. That should scare you so much more than Trump's latest temper tantrum.
