Forgive me, but I'm going to be that guy. Gonna talk about how consensus reality has degraded and my personal thoughts on synchronicities.
So, as cool of an idea that chaos magic and like, Burroughs and the Illuminatus! books did this, they... just didn't. Consensus reality has broken down because of digital technology.
The breakdown started with the introduction of the personal computer, followed by desktop publishing, the internet, and ultimately data-driven advertising.
The gatekeepers of consensus reality were publishers, newspapers, television news, etc. Gradually over time, the ability to produce competing narratives of equal quality and distribution eroded their authority.
The last gasp of consensus reality is programmatic advertising, where you go online and are served the reality you want because someone, somewhere is making $$$ off of it, or it serves one of their larger goals.
Now here is the worst thing I am gonna say to occult/paranormal Twitter ever. Y'all are drunk on synchronicities - and I mean this in kind of a bad way.
The human eye and brain have evolved to be detail-seeing/pattern recognition engines. This is compared to say how a cat's eye and brain work. They're motion-based and don't see fine detail.
The problem with us is that while this is a great survival mechanism for spotting predators coming through the tall grass. I think it's effectively driven us insane on a low-level.
The brain is what groups things. This is where I want everyone to stop for five minutes and go familiarize themselves with Gestalt psychology and Rudolph Arnheim's "Psychology of Visual Perception"
If I draw three boxes next to each other and three boxes anywhere on a page, we think the ones "next to" each other are a group - but it's just that, we make that association in our own minds. That's how we're wired.
So we're "seeing things" synchronicities, that have no meaning, or if they do it's internal - but we're externalizing them and creating patterns that we draw erroneous conclusions from.
I personally think we're in a rough spot where we can clearly see the institutions of the past have all wholly failed and we're trying to build new ones, but we're also really flailing about because we long for connection.
Like, I hate to say this, but Hellier got everyone thinking when they see a blue star balloon that it means something when those are a common party balloon. They're everywhere, you're just noticing them now.
They were special for the Hellier team because of the location and circumstances. I see people posting pictures of those things being used as intended and being like SYNCHRONICITIES.
The literal problem with everything being like, 1. we want to believe, and 2. we don't know how anything works.
My advice? You gots to chill.
My advice? You gots to chill.
Synchronicities are personally meaningful, not globally or general.
