Simple terms

Virus transmits via droplets and aerosols.
Droplet transmission mitigated by social distancing and good hand and surface hygiene.
Aerosol transmission mitigated by improving ventilation and wearing face coverings when indoors with members of other households.
4 recognised safety measures to limit infection transmission in schools:
Social distancing
Good hand and surface hygiene
Improved ventilation
Face coverings classrooms
1.SD- reduced class sizes, use of blended learning, rota systems, support for those whom can remain temporarily remote educated (not threats of prosecution) Nightingale classrooms, etc
2. Good hand a surface hygiene - again, planning and timetabling frequent deep cleans, regular surface cleans and giving set timings to continue hand hygiene throughout the day
(Not rushed and queues and teachers telling kids to hurry up and sit down!)
3. Ventilation- air purifiers, CO2 room monitors, investment in professional air flow investigations and implementing recommendations (all could have took place in every school over summer to identify areas of concern and fix them or move to ‘nightingale’ style temp classes).
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations mean that all risk assessments must include aerosol transmission as a risk and use all mitigations to reduce risk to lowest practicable level.
4. Face coverings- even if not mandated, at least allow a choice. Educate as to why and in what circumstances face coverings can limit viral load. Teach mask hygiene principles. Do not force pupils to remove a recognised safety device when indoors with members of other households
So when you can see that all of the above 👆could have been planned, funded and implemented since March, then you need to ask why did @educationgovuk CHOOSE to do NOTHING?
And why do politicians and public figures continue to say measures are sufficient?
What’s the agenda?
