A thread: If you are a doc, nurse, or allied health professional and are vaccine hesitant because you have questions. That's fine. Let's get informed. For yourself, your patients, your family, our communities. Rather than announce loudly that "you don't know what's in it."
So, let's start with just a list of resources that can answer your questions, and enable you to help answer questions for your patients, families, and even randomers online (but probably not the conspiracy theorists; usually can't help them.)
General Questions: @IDSAInfo has this great resource: https://www.idsociety.org/covid-19-real-time-learning-network/vaccines/vaccines-information--faq/
What's in the mRNA vaccine? @techreview has a great article: https://www.technologyreview.com/2020/12/09/1013538/what-are-the-ingredients-of-pfizers-covid-19-vaccine
Need your info in a podcast? Try @ZDoggMD 's recent interview with @DrPaulOffit https://zdoggmd.com/podcasting/paul-offit-4/
But how did we get vaccines so fast? @UniofOxford has great little video about the process https://twitter.com/UniofOxford/status/1324301267531956225?s=20
Questions from about the vaccines in pregnancy/breastfeeding? @Mysmfm has statement: https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.smfm.org/media/2591/SMFM_Vaccine_Statement_12-1-20_(final).pdf
or, on same topic, try: @acog also did a statement https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/practice-advisory/articles/2020/12/vaccinating-pregnant-and-lactating-patients-against-covid-19
Patients with autoimmune disease or who are on biologics? You could just follow @rheum2improve or try FAQs here: https://www.arthritis.org/health-wellness/about-arthritis/related-conditions/other-diseases/covid-19-faqs-medication-treatment-and-vaccines
All those crazy sensational stories? Not sure to believe them? (really, you're not sure? OK.) You can fact check these at sites like @FullFact or @PolitiFact
These are just some of the great resources I've come across just this week. If you have more, add them! But please, please take steps to be part of the solution rather than the problem of misinformation and vaccine hestitancy.
This pandemic has taken an untold toll on the economy, psychological health, loss of loved ones...As health care professionals, we need to, more than ever, show leadership and promote #factsnotfears
