Anyone can take a blood pressure recording at home, with a monitor.

“My BP is 130/75”
“Oh Mine is 170/98”
“Mines 90/40”

Technology is fabulous. It allows you to monitor things yourself.

So you have your BP reading.
What does it mean?
Is it high, low, normal?
Do you know about the systolic and the diastolic, aside from them being numbers on your monitor?
Do you know about the natural variations that occur with blood pressure?
Do you know if that measurement is anything for you to worry about?
Should you seek immediate help?
The answer in the majority of cases, is no.

The point of this tweet?

Because you’ve read an article or can take your own blood pressure, it doesn’t make you medically trained.

Please don’t dispute people who have spent years at med school.
People who live and breathe medicine.
Not only does it make you look absolutely ridiculous, it’s hugely disrespectful to the people who’ve dedicated years of their lives trying to improve the health and well-being of others.

Please, listen to the experts.
Because that’s what they actually are.
