Sir Keir Starmer says again "the new variant was spotted back in September". That is heavily disputed claim... It was spotted in October from a sample taken in September according to DoH.
Susan Hopkins of PHE: This particular variant was identified in the middle of October from a sample taken in September and this week the modellers and academics demonstrated that it was indeed more transmissible than other variants circulating and alerted gov to this on Friday."
Both of those statements cannot be true....
Have asked Labour and PHE to explain this one... in the name of forensic analysis.
It wasn't a slip of the tongue from Starmer either. It was in the press released version of his script..
