Since we're talking about tiers, here's a quick thread on the 3 tiers of theology

A Tier 1 issue is a "salvific" issue. This is something all believers should agree on. If one does not agree with these, it is possible that they are not a believer, and that they *may* be a heretic.
E.g. Jesus’ crucifixion; His resurrection; the virgin birth; His deity/humanity.

A Tier 2 issue is an idea that isn't a “Salvation issue,” but these issues do tend to be divisive. If someone disagrees with a common view of an issue in the 2nd tier, it DOES NOT MEAN that they are not a believer. However, it is likely that people who disagree...
...on Tier 2 issues will not attend the same church.
E.g. methods of worship, Calvinism vs. Arminianism; sacraments; original sin; predestination vs. free will; eschatology.

Tier 3 issues are ideas that are important to think and discuss about, but disagreements about these issues SHOULD NOT AFFECT RELATIONSHIPS. Differences in opinion regarding these issues will be common, however they should not be blown out of proportion. It is recommended...
...that Christians do meditate on these issues and decide what they believe AND WHY.
E.g. Bible translations; preaching styles; interpretation of scripture passages; sermon topics; carpet color; church structures; building sizes.
