Obviously the biggest cause of the mess we are in has been the recruitment. I think it goes back as far as summer 2013 when we were told we would be able to start competing financially with the top teams again, as payments for the Emirates stadium reduced.

2013: Özil was an amazing signing. Viviano on loan, Sanogo and Flamini on free transfers. Pathetic. We desperately needed a striker and DM. Chased Suarez and Higuain and failed.

2014: Kallstrom in Jan. Alexis, Welbeck, Debuchy, Chambers & Ospina. Considered a good window but it wasn't. Alexis was an amazing signing. Debuchy, Chambers & Ospina were Sagna, Vermaelen & Fabianski replacements. Welbeck a panic buy when Giroud broke his leg. Still no CF & DM.

2015: Gabriel and Cech
2016: ElNeny, Xhaka, Mustafi, Perez, Holding & Asano
2017: Lacazette & Kolasinac

2018:
January: Aubameyang who has been great & Mkhitaryan + Özil's contract all on big money
Summer: Leno, Torreira, Guendouzi, Sokratis & Lichtsteiner - awful

2019: Denis Suarez in Jan. Tierney, Pepe, Luiz, Martinelli, Saliba & Ceballos on loan. Seemed great at the time. Pepe hasn't worked out so it now looks bad. Saliba still not given a chance. I still think this was a decent window.

2020:
January: Mari & Cedric
Summer: Partey, Gabriel, Willian and Runarsson
