A thread on the Loeffler/Warnock Race:
There's been very little honesty in the Georgia Senate race between Senator Kelly Loeffler and Reverend Raphael Warnock.
1/14
I'm generalizing, but save for some rare exceptions, I've observed that Democrats tend to demonize Senator Loeffler for antisemitism and racism, and excuse Reverend Warnock for antisemitism and anti-Zionism.
2/14
Republicans tend to do the opposite, demonizing Reverend Warnock for antisemitism and anti-Zionism and excusing Senator Loeffler for antisemitism and racism.
3/14
Reverend Warnock has accused Israel of insidious policies and actions. He's called Israel an apartheid state, said its soldiers shoot Palestinians as "birds of prey." and compared Prime Minister Netanyahu to former racist Governor George Wallace.
4/14
As he ran for Senate, Warnock seems to have changed his tune, saying he supports Israel, American aid to Israel and opposes the BDS movement.
5/14
Republicans choose to focus on Reverend Warnock's earlier comments and ignore his recent comments, looking at them suspiciously as words meant to pander to the Pro-Israel community.
6/14
Democrats are doing the opposite, focusing on his latest friendly comments and assuming them to be true, while ignoring his older troubling comments.
7/14
Senator Loeffler took pictures with members of the KKK, stood by candidates who espoused antisemitic conspiracy theories, and suggested Georgians cannot be both Zionists and support the Black Lives Matter movement.
8/14
She has also been a long supporter of the Jewish community & has been & will be a reliable Pro-Israel Senator.
Republicans tend to overlook the troubling aspects of Senator Loeffler's behavior & focus instead on her support of the Jewish & Pro-Israel communities.
9/14
They state she's been Pro-Israel, will be Pro-Israel & has never said or done anything antisemitic, so there's no concern.
Democrats focus on Senator Loeffler's troubling behavior & ignore her support of the Jewish community & consistent support of the Jewish community.
10/14
I recognize that I'm generalizing, but so few Republicans have taken Senator Loeffler troublesome behavior seriously and so few Democrats have taken Reverend Warnock's troublesome positions seriously.
11/14
This partisan behavior by the majority of the Jewish and Pro-Israel community is the worst nightmare of Israelis who look to Americans for support. The U.S.-Israel relationship can not become partisan to the point that there's no nuance and honesty in debate anymore.
12/14
There's no problem with Pro-Israel Democrats wanting a DEM Senate and the same of Pro-Israel Republicans wanting a GOP Senate, but be honest about it. Don't pretend to be concerned with Israel when, in fact, you're priority is partisan American politics. It's disingenuous.
13/14
My suspicions might be wrong, but only the advocates on both sides can know what they're truly thinking. I just ask them to introspect and ask themselves if its coincidence that they happen to side with the candidate in this race that represents their party of choice.
