This is so incredibly disheartening. The thing is, there were people who, from the beginning, kept living as if nothing was different, breaking all the rules. Then there were people who immediately locked down as much as possible, missing weddings and birthdays and going
- a year without seeing any family or loved ones, fighting depression, anxiety and loneliness and for some, having lost all their work, this includes worrying about the future and next month’s rent. All because we didn’t want to go risk killing people. Because we knew that
- if we all just stayed inside and away from people for a few months, we’d get to go back to normal life soon.

Meaning that for 9 months, one group has been absolutely miserable, isolated, working high risk jobs - whilst another group has been partying and travelling.
And it’s heartbreaking. That people don’t CARE. People saying ‘well, you have to live your life, you can’t just stop living’... Um. Yes, you can, if there is a dangerous fucking virus around that’s going to kill people’s loved ones.
For me, losing my entire industry and having to spend Christmas alone and on Zoom, has been hard. But not nearly as hard as it has been seeing people selfishly not care about other people. Having to listen to neighbours having parties and
- seeing people on social media post photos of them all hanging out. It’s the entitlement, the selfishness, the lack of responsibility, the P R I V I L E G E, the utter carelessness. It just feels so unfair.
If one good thing comes out of this pandemic, it’s that everyone has shown their true colours. It’s like the first time you see if a new friend is rude to their waiter, except it’s more like, will your new friend infect the waiter with a serious illness.
