In recent weeks, pseudo-experts (from Sahan & Heritage et al) have come out in full swing and have gone into greater length to frame the renewed diplomatic tensions bw Somalia & Kenya as an electioneering strategy by FGS to win upcoming elections on the back of populism

And warned if members of international community don't step in and restrain "FGS’ alleged authoritarian tendencies," that Somalia will descend into civil war.

This is misleading and intellectual dishonesty at best. And, at worst, it is an insult to our intelligence.

Relations between the two countries have been ebbing and flowing ever since Kenya invaded Somalia in 2011 to annex 100,000KmSq of Somalia’s maritime territory believed is rich in oil and gas.

While AS was used at the time as a cover for the incursion, Kenya’s real strategic objective was to lay her hand on Somalia’s resources & render it hers. To achieve that end, Kenya embarked on creating a buffer zone and established an admin, which is 100 percent complaint to NBI

It has become abundantly clear since Somali Parliament unanimously rejected the 2009 MoU – which was devised by Kenya and MNCs to steal Somalia’s resources – that Kenya has resorted to gunboat diplomacy.

Successive FGS have since attempted to assert their authority in JL and have failed.

Not because of resistance by Somali people in JL but as a direct consequence of Kenya’s military intervention.

To date, Kenya uses JL as a bargaining chip and as part of her broader strategy to steal Somalia’s resources.

And it will never give up until it senses strong SNA on the other side that is capable of protecting Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

If otherwise would be true & Kenya would be benign partner as pseudo-experts would have us believe, Kenya would've worked very closely with FGS to defeat VEGs, would've allowed FGS to exercise sovereignty over JL & would've gradually transferred security responsibility to SNA.

It would not have resisted SNA from assuming security responsibility as the ensuing standoff in Beled Hawa now demonstrate.

Kenya is not alone though on these subversive activities against Somalia. Without going into detail, it is aided & abetted by a number of other actors.

In sum, Somalis are fully awake and are rallying behind their FGS’ endeavours to protect Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
